For hospitality

The room is ready in an hour, or it is not ready at all.

Dry steam cleans mattresses, curtains and bathroom grout with heat and very little water.

The problem

The turnaround decides what gets cleaned.

Guest out

The room comes back

Linen goes and surfaces get wiped. The mattress and soft furnishings, closest to the guest, don't.

The window

Wet cleaning does not fit inside it

A wet mattress is a room out of service until tomorrow, so it doesn't happen.

The pass

Steam instead of a soaking

The INOX 7000 or INOX 8000 steams and vacuums the mattress in one pass. Then it does the grout and silicone.

Why steam, here

Grams of steam, not litres of water, on the mattress.

The saving is chemicals, linen handling and outsourced deep cleans. Steam is also gentler on mattresses and upholstery than a wet clean.

With hot water injection the sheet lists 392 grams a minute, a different setting.

Where it lives

Start with these three

Mattresses
Turned and vacuumed, but rarely cleaned through, and too slow to wet-clean inside a room turnaround. Steam Italy lists mattresses among the things its steam cleaners clean and sanitise, in its published literature.
Bathrooms and ablutions
Grout and silicone stay damp and go mouldy, and bleach takes out the colour without removing the mould. Steam treats it with heat instead.
Carpets and rugs
Wet extraction takes hours to dry and often leaves a smell. Steam with extraction uses far less water, so the room is back in use sooner.

Inspection

What an inspection asks

Your kitchen is inspected and your rooms are graded. R638 and the certificate apply back of house, where food is prepared and served. Grading is a separate matter, and nobody can tell you that a machine improves a grading.

What R638 and the certificate cover

R638, the food premises regulations

It sets the standard your premises is held to and does not name a cleaning method. No supplier can tell you that a particular machine satisfies it. What a machine can do is make the surfaces it covers easier to keep at that standard.

Certificate of Acceptability

Your cleaning method alone does not decide whether you get the certificate. What the inspection looks at includes your surfaces, your equipment and your records, and a documented cleaning process helps with all three.

What a cleaning record shows

Will steam soak the mattress?

No. Dry steam puts down very little water. Wet extraction is what soaks the foam.

Does steam remove odour or just cover it?

It treats the source rather than masking it. Odour deep in old foam can mean a new mattress.

Will steam damage upholstery or curtains?

It depends on the fabric and the technique, which the training covers. Test a hidden area first. No steamer suits every fabric.
